About Lucent

Lucent is a quarterly wellness magazine aligned with growth through the seasons, on all levels - arriving in New Hampshire this December.

Together we explore resources for practical wellness, seasonal routines, local culture, and inspired, meaningful reflection. Community members and leaders right here in New Hampshire populate our features, telling us how they are making a difference and inviting us to do the same.

Articles on philosophy, personal evolution, and what it means to live well are written by people with lived experience, not just conceptual understanding. And while we aim to be uplifting, Lucent is grounded and real, like you.

Our Mission

Lucent is a keepsake practice of illumination, season by season, rooted in the wisdom of the natural year.

Together, we honor the rhythms and truths earned through lived experience, in service of inner authority, agency, dignity, and hope.

We believe in inclusivity and in guidance from the inside-out, always grounded, always honest.

Through thoughtful stories, articles, art and culture, reflection, and seasonal wisdom, we invite readers to experience a renewed sense of community belonging and momentum for what comes next.

What We Publish

Work that was lived before it was written.

Lucent is a quarterly for those who tend the inner life. That inner life is not separate from the world; it is shaped by the people around us, the place we live, and the work we do. We publish writing that reflects luminosity from the inside out.

The Work We Look For

Human interest & community stories

Honest, carefully told accounts of people and places in our region. These stories should leave a reader knowing something they did not know before, and knowing where to stand if they want to help. Where a story names a need, we name the door.

Philosophical writing, grounded in lived experience

Essays that think seriously, about attention, grief, practice, belonging, the body, time - and that earn what they claim. Name your sources, name your teachers, and let a fact be a fact. But the authority we trust most comes from having been there. Tell us what it cost you to learn it.

Art, music & culture in our region

Features on the makers, players and keepers of culture from the Seacoast to the White Mountains; from southern New Hampshire to the Canadian border and all communities between. Profiles, studio visits, the story behind a single piece of work, the history behind a song. Less verdict, more attention.

Poetry, photography & short reflections

Short work that holds its own on the page: a single poem, a reflection of four hundred words, a photograph with a paragraph beneath it. Some of the best things we can run might be the smallest.

A simple test before you send: could only you have written this?
If the answer is yes, we want to see it.

How to pitch
A short note on what the piece is and why it is yours to write, with links or samples if you have them. Finished work is welcome; so is an idea with a paragraph behind it.
Photography & art
Three to five images, or a link to your portfolio. Tell us where the work was made.
Where to send it
editorial@lucentnh.com - put "submission" in the subject line so it finds its way to the right pile.
